The following information describes the City of Rockland’s implementation of the Local Minimum Wage ordinance approved by voters on the November 2020 ballot.
Employers with more than 25 employees shall pay all Employees no less than the Minimum Wage established by this ordinance for each hour worked within the physical boundaries of the City of Rockland. The local minimum wage will increase to $13.00 per hour beginning on January 1, 2022; increase to $14.00 per hour beginning January 1, 2023; increase to $15.00 per hour beginning on January 1, 2024; and then the Local Minimum Wage will increase annually based on the percentage increase to the cost of living.
“Service employee” means any employee engaged in an occupation in which the employee customarily and regularly receives more than $175 a month in tips. The “tip wage”, or service employee minimum wage, beginning on January 1, 2022; shall be no greater than half the Local Minimum Wage rate established by this ordinance.
