The Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St., offers seasonal treats in upcoming weeks, just the ticket – if you get them now – to offer respite from the hustle and bustle. All shows are reduced capacity with some spacing, and masks are required in the building.
Camden’s annual Christmas by the Sea is back the first weekend of December, and the opera house looks forward to hosting the annual “Nutcracker” by the local Atlantic Ballet Company, with performances on Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5, both at 3 pm. Camden Opera House’s popular SoundCheck series welcomes local musicians to the stage Friday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Louisa Stancioff will join musical forces with multi-instrumentalist and singer Edith Gawler for an hour of contemporary electric folk. Tickets are just $10.
The popular Lúnasa Irish Christmas show returns, with guest performer Dave Curley, Saturday, Dec. 18, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $54 in advance, $64 day-of-show.
The first SoundCheck of the new year will wrap up the season Friday, Jan. 7, as Castlebay (Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee) share Colonial and contemporary music, poetry and stories of winter in New England, accompanied with guitar, Celtic harp, fiddle and woodwinds. Tickets are $10 and, as with all SoundCheck shows, there will be a free Facebook Livestream.
