Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) is on the ballot for the Bangor Savings Bank Community Matters More program, now in its 15th year. Community members are invited to cast a vote to support KCHC’s life-saving and life-changing grassroots work.
“This winter, KCHC’s client care team is helping more people than ever before—over 600 individuals, half of whom are children,” states Stephanie Primm, Executive Director of KCHC. ”A grant from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation would help us provide safe shelter, emergency supplies, compassionate support, and hope for the future. The needs right now are unprecedented.”
KCHC is currently receiving two to three emergency calls per day from community members who are in danger due to their homelessness – an all-time high. KCHC’s Hospitality House Family Shelter is filled to capacity with a 4-8 week waiting list.
The Bangor Savings Bank Community Matters More program will award 45 grants, totaling more than $155,000, to 45 nonprofit organizations across Maine and New Hampshire. The top vote-receiving nonprofit organizations in each region will receive $5,000 grants. In celebration of the 15th year of Community Matters More, the nonprofit that receives the most overall votes will be awarded a $15,000 grant.
Founded in 2014, KCHC is the only comprehensive homeless services organization serving Knox County, as well as parts of Waldo and Lincoln counties. In collaboration with State and local partners, the organization works to ensure that all families and individuals have the opportunity for stable housing and a sustainable, productive life.
