April offerings from Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education

March 25, 2022

Do-it-yourself, learn a new skill, enrich your life at MCST. Or maybe …

… teach something. We at MCST Adult Ed are looking for interesting courses to offer our community as we plan our summer and fall catalogs. If you have skills and experience you want to share, contact Adult Education Director Heidi Noland at hnolan@mcst.org or 207-596-7752, ext. 104.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for a new skill or experience, look no further.

Artists, craftspeople, and others who make items to sell can learn how to highlight their work in MCST Design/Technology Instructor Brandon Soards’ Lighting/Camera Techniques for Products. Prepare your images for online presentation with camera techniques, lighting theory, photo editing, and other tools to achieve a professional look on a budget. Students may bring a 3D item to be photographed and a USB thumb drive to take images home at the conclusion of the session. One night only – Tuesday, April 12 from 5:30-7:30 pm at MCST.

Discover the technique of Chair Seat Weaving with Susan Reidy. This hands-on workshop begins in person at MCST and is followed by three more sessions, presented via Zoom, to support you while you weave your seat. Students are encouraged to provide a chair for their project and to bring it to the first class. Tuesdays starting April 12, from 6:00-8:00 pm

Bring your machining skills to a higher level in Ben Scott’s CNC Machining. This 21-hour course introduces students to Computer Numerical Control (CNC) manufacturing, covering machine functions, tooling set-up, reading machine language, and other skills to help them in their current work or new employment. Prerequisite: Completion of Machining Part 1, employment in the industry, or enrollment in a college-level tooling course. Mondays and Tuesdays, April 25 to May 16, from 4:30-7:30 pm at MCST.

Improve your mental skills with Alex Fayvil’s Intro to Chess. Learn rules and strategies that will help you experience the fun and adrenaline rush of the Game of Kings. Bring a chess set or share with a buddy. Wednesdays for five weeks, April 27-May 25 from 5:30-7:00 pm at MCST.

As always, browse our current course catalog and register for upcoming classes at www.midcoastadulted.com or by calling 207-596-7752 Mondays through Thursdays, 9:30-5:00. Register early. Classes fill quickly.
