The Georges River Land Trust invites all to the official opening of The Gibson Wellness Walk, its accessible trail at the Gibson Preserve, 637 Woodman’s Mill Rd. in Searsmont, on October 15. The featured speaker will be Enock Glidden, renowned outdoorsman and advocate for people of all abilities to enjoy the trails of Maine.
The Gibson Wellness Walk is a 5-foot wide, 0.4-mile lollipop loop with a compacted gravel surface that is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. It’s been built to ‘national park standards’ through the support of Kay Gibson and her late husband, Dana Gibson, the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and AARP.
The trail opening will follow the Annual Meeting of the Georges River Land Trust scheduled for 1pm. All members of the Georges River Land Trust are invited to a review and vote on new Board directors. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Marie McNeely @ 207.594.5166.
