Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) is happy to announce that Jessica Portlock of Hampden, Maine is the winner of a raffle for a wood toy barn from Aldermere Farm, a preserve of MCHT in Rockport. Heidi Baker, General Manager of Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields Preserves, drew the winning ticket on Friday, December 8th, in time for the holidays.
During this year, MCHT collected raffle tickets at its annual events hosted at Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields: Calf Unveiling Day in May, Fall Celebration in October, and Beltie Holiday in December.
“’I get a barn; you get a barn’ was the theme of the raffle,” explained Baker. This spring, MCHT launched the Aldermere & Erickson Campaign to raise at least $3 million for critical new infrastructure and equipment at Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields, which included a new educational barn that will house Aldermere’s 75 head of cattle. “These improvements will enable us to better serve the Midcoast community for decades to come,” said Baker. “We’re planning a new Visitor’s Center at Aldermere Farm, trail upgrades, infrastructure improvements for Erickson Fields, and more.”
The redesign of Aldermere’s Visitor’s Center at 20 Russell Ave will include an accessible vestibule where visitors can view the inside of the barn. “We want more people to be able to experience the daily farm operations and the everyday miracles like a cow giving birth,” said Baker.
