The Craignair Gallery invites the public to the Opening Reception of In Stillness by Camden artist Whitney River on Wednesday, July 19, from 4 to 7 PM, with live music by pianist Elijah River.
River’s masterful work explores the natural world through seemingly opposite vantage points. Her oil paintings and drawings are close-up observations of intricate forms while her watercolor paintings capture the limitless expanse of sea, sky, and land. Both perspectives present opportunities to contemplate our inner selves, our relationships with others, and our place in the natural world.
Since graduating from Yale University with a BA in painting in 1995, she has shown extensively throughout New England, and her drawings and paintings are represented in many private and corporate collections. In Stillness is on exhibit from July 19 through August 15.
