You won’t need to be in New Orleans this year to celebrate Mardi Gras! You can just travel to the Causeway Restaurant located on the St. George peninsula, just south of Rockland and Camden. The Causeway will be hosting their first annual Mardi Gras in Maine from February 24-27th. The event weekend kicks off on Thursday the 24th with a 6-course pairing dinner featuring traditional Mardi Gras fare and partnering with Wiggly Bridge Distillery out of York, Maine to provide 6 specialty Mardi Gras themed cocktails.
The Causeway’s Chef Fernando once worked with the famed New Orleans Chef, Paul Prudhomme at his legendary K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen. In addition to working with Chef Prudhomme, Chef Fernando has also worked with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and the SUSTA (Southern United States Trade Association) to travel around the world hosting Mardi Gras festivals. Chef Fernando traveled to Venezuela, Spain, Japan, Colombia, as well as other international and national venues to showcase traditional Louisiana products and dishes. Perhaps nobody in the state of Maine has the training and experience preparing these dishes than Chef Fernando.
