MCST Adult Ed Chases the Winter Blues Away

This week Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Ed bids a very fond best of luck to retiring Adult Ed Assistant Betsy Rector. Her shoes will be hard to fill!

Find the catalog and/or register for upcoming classes via our website, www.midcoastadulted.com or call our office (207-596-7752 x3) Mondays through Thursdays, 9:30-5:00, to register over the phone. To avoid disappointment, register promptly to assure the class runs and you have a seat in it!

Here are a few of our featured programs.

If you are contemplating life, Patricia LaVallee’s Life Like a River offers a time to look at your life in a fun, and creative way. Some supplies will be available but bring paper, pencil, and an open mind. No artistic talent or skills are required – feel free to bring colored pens or a few old magazines to share. This no-tech class will be relaxing and informative. Live (but Zoomable). Patricia is a Certified Mind Set Life Coach and former MCST Adult Ed CNA instructor who shares coping skills gained in 35 years of nursing, coaching, and teaching experience. Monday – February 7 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm (one time only).

Do you have stories to tell? You Want to Write, Let’s Do It, Lee Heffner’s Creative Writing Boot Camp, will help you put those ideas into out in the world. In 4 weeks, you’ll produce short pieces you have yet to imagine. An hour before each class, you will receive a prompt: a word, image, or phrase. Draft a piece based on the prompt and join your fellow writers to share your work. Tuesdays 5:30-7:30pm, starting Feb. 8.

Blooms Through the Season, with instructor John Fromer, is an in-depth look at how you can have fresh flowers continuously from spring to late fall. Winter is half over and it’s time to learn how to plant, grow and divide perennials, and work with corms, tubers and bulbs. From soil preparation to perennial borders to the importance of good and irrigation, this class will make you want to get your hands dirty in the garden. Tuesdays – February 8 and 15 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Bring your images to life in Image Editing with iPad. Joseph Corrado will help you use this powerful photo editing tool. Learn about free editing apps, ways to manipulate both Raw and Jpg images, and shooting techniques. Bring your iPad to the class. Wednesdays – February 9 to March 23, 6 weeks from 5:30 – 7:00 pm

We make hundreds of decisions every day, some simple and others overwhelming. The Power of a Clear Decision, with Patricia LaVallee can help you manage the process. Live (but Zoomable). Monday – February 14, 1 night only, from 5:30 – 8:00 pm

There is still time to enroll in our next Certified Nursing Assistant certificate program with Terry Adkins. Students complete 200 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience, meeting all state licensing requirements that lead to the State Competency Exam. Certified Nursing Assistants work under the direction of a licensed nurse. Class size is limited; apply early. Prerequisite: high school diploma or equivalent. Contact us for an application. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays – March 22 to May 26 from 8 am-4pm.
