The AARP Foundation is offering tax-aide appointments again this year at the Camden Public Library on Tuesdays and Fridays through April 15. The tax-aide program provides in-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone free of charge with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low to moderate income. You don’t have to be an AARP member.
“All of our tax preparations are done by trained volunteers who must complete training and pass IRS certification annually to assist in tax preparation,” says Lynnette Lee- Villanueva, vice president for AARP Foundation Tax-Aide. This year, tax assistance is available by appointment only. Appointment options can change on short notice based on COVID-19 conditions. Appointments are limited and filling up quickly.
There are tax forms that must be picked up ahead of time. Participants will be expected to park at the library and phone in to let the AARP tax assistants know they are waiting. For more information and to register, please call the library at 207-236-3440.
