Maine Winemaker Distiller Judging Concours International Wine, Beer and Spirits Competition in Lyon, France

Keith Bodine, winemaker, distiller and co-owner of Sweetgrass Farm Winery & Distillery, was selected to judge the 14th Concours International Wine, Beer and Spirits Competition in Lyon, France.  Lyon is considered the capital of gastronomy and good taste, and so chosen to be a showcase for the best products in the world. The Concours International de Lyon has a reputation in keeping with its prestigious partners: Les Toques Blanches Lyonnaises, the Association des Sommeliers de Rhône Alpes, and many more. The enthusiasm for this competition is widespread as some 10,000 samples from over 50 countries will be tasted. Bodine joins other world-renowned experts from across the globe in all sectors of the beverage industry such as oenologists, sommeliers, restaurateurs, producers, wine shop owners, as well as knowledgeable consumers. Results from the competition will be available March 29, 2023. Keith Bodine has judged competitions in the US, United Kingdom, and South Africa.  He earned his Masters of Science degree from the University of California at Davis in Food Science Enology (winemaking) in 1995.  His graduate research centered on sensory analysis, taste and astringency, and was published in the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture.  Bodine has been building and managing wineries and distilleries in the US and China before moving to Maine, where his family is from, to build and run his own farm winery distillery in 2005.  Currently, Bodine consults for wineries and distilleries around the world.
